Someone from KH asked me how I made my legwarmers and here is my reply:
Hi Femmy,

My dd Julia wants some legwarmers. Have you written out your pattern yet? If not, could you explain to me how you made the open heel?

Thanks, Candace
So I been thinking about it and I don't really have a pattern. What I did was made a swatch out of the yarn I was using with some needles I thought were good. I found out how many stitches per inch I got. Then I measured my foot and my leg and stuff and figured out how many stitches to cast on from that. I started with the foot. I knit about 2 or 2 and half inches of k2 P2 ribbing on 3 dbl points in the round. Then I did few rows of stockinette. THen I cast off half the number of stitches on the needles. On the next round where the cast off stitches were I cast on the same number of stitches I cast off. Then I did a few more rows of stockiette. All of this I did in one color so as not to be too confusing. I continued in stockinette all the way up the leg, switching colors every inch and a half or so. And with each color change I would add a stich at the begining and at the end of each color change so by the time I got mid calf I had abdout doubled the number of stitches. When it got to mid calf I went back to k2 P2 ribbing in yet another color for about 2 inches and cast off. THat's it. I'mnot sure how to make this a more foral pattern. I rarely use patterns. I usually eyeball measurements and guestamate sizes. I think I'll have to get help from Ingy if I try to make a more formal pattern. I hope this helps! Good luck! :muah:

Peace

Lori
